BCG (Tuberculosis) Vaccine

1. The graph below shows that the incidence of insulin dependent diabetes (IDDM) rose in Sweden following the discontinuation of BCG immunization. Those immunized with BCG vaccine at birth in Sweden had a decreased risk of IDDM. The decreased risk of IDDM was similar to that seen in European countries giving BCG vaccine at birth.
